Welcome to ISSEA Track and Field.
The warmest of welcomes to our ISSEA athletics, coaches, and supporters. ISK is thrilled to welcome you to Nairobi and hope that your time here will be unforgettable. While we have an extraordinarily beautiful campus, we still lack a track, something that we hope to rectify in a year’s time. In the meantime however, we are fortunate to be able to host you in exceptional settings such as the Karura forest and Kasarani National Stadium.
ISSEA events though are much more than simply athletic events. The connections you make with fellow athletes from all ISSEA schools will have deep and lasting effects. I guarantee you that in the future, after high school, you will run into one another, reconnect and reminisce. I am confident that the memories made over the next few days will be ones of support; healthy competition and rivalry; friendship and celebration.
I am grateful for all of the hard work that has gone into organizing and running this event. An enormous thank you to Will Moore, Felix Onchera and Trizah Kiarii for all of their blood, sweat, and cheers over the past several months. Thank you too to Theo Fernandes, Michael Muli and their crews for all of their logistical support. And finally, thank you to the teams and their supporters for the incredible spirit and the breath of fresh air you have brought with you! Karibuni ISK!
Karibuni ISSEA Cross Country and Track & Field 2022!
When ISK hosted ISSEA Basketball a few months ago, I shared some thoughts about the nature of ISSEA as a community and family - having watched it grow since 2000 from the perspective of a teacher, parent, and principal. It was a particularly inspiring community event after a couple of difficult years during the global pandemic.
ISSEA Cross Country and Track & Field 2022 presents some unique challenges and another wonderful opportunity for students and coaches as you proudly represent your schools. I can’t recall any previous ISSEA taking place at three different venues - and the decision to do so is a testament to the commitment and hard work of everyone involved. Whether you are competing on the ISK campus, in Karura Forest, or at the Kasarani National Stadium, I hope that you perform well, enjoy a wonderful event, and learn from this experience too.
Time and again, I’ve seen ISSEA athletes commit to fair play, support other schools and teams, and make new friends - ISSEA being an incredible platform for new and lasting relationships. And I hope that you find success, joy, and friendship in your time here together. Enjoy your visit to the International School of Kenya for ISSEA Cross Country and Track & Field 2022.
Welcome, Student-Athletes, coaches and parents! Here at ISK, the community has been looking forward to this event for a very long time and we are ready to welcome the 280 athletes and coaches taking part.
Hosted at three different venues, ISK, Karura Forest (Cross Country) and Kasarani National Stadium (Track & Field), this event comes with a large amount of logistical preparation and I would like to give much appreciation for ISK’s catering, operational, transport and medical departments.
Also, a special thanks to our HS Lions Pride team who have given so much time and effort to help promote, prepare and run this epic event. The best of luck to all the ISSEA teams as we look forward to the solid competition, fair play and a platform to create wonderful memories here in Nairobi!
